Hello!
Pepperleaf has been out for just over three weeks, and I’m beginning to get feedback from readers on the novel, and it has all been good so far. It’s my third time having a book come out, and this experience has been the most enjoyable. It can be a nerve-wracking having something you spent years on go out into the world, to strangers as well as to friends and family. For this book, I’ve found I’m much less concerned about what people think about it, less afraid of bad reviews, and more likely to take good ones with a grain of salt. It’s exciting knowing that something might happen at any moment.
I can neither confirm nor deny that it’s already into its second printing :)
I’m hoping word-of-mouth gets out, especially through book clubs and the like. I have two Seattle-area book clubs I’ll be visiting in the coming weeks, and it’d be great to have the chance to do more—whether in-person or online. Pepperleaf is a great choice for book clubs, I think. It’s much more accessible than my previous two books. While there is tragedy, it also explores more of the redemptive aspects of life.
Over the weekend, Pepperleaf received a shoutout from Independent Book Review (pictured), which made my day.
Amidst all the hullaballoo, I also had a flash fiction piece come out in BULL Magazine. It takes place in Seattle during the 80s. A father-son story. You can read it here.
More soon!
