Hello!
Pepperleaf has now been out nearly two weeks, and it has been quite a ride. Above is a picture from the book release party at Third Place Books here in Lake Forest Park, just outside Seattle. It was a wonderful event, we sold a lot of books, my wife and her friend made a glorious dessert spread and themed shrub, all of which tasted amazing. I read a few humorous excerpts from the book and answered questions about my process and the book itself. I’m not sure whether people laughed more at the excerpts or at me being me. Just as long as they laughed, I don’t care.
On that note, there are only two copies left of the first print run, which is remarkable; it’s such a cool experience to think that a lot of people are reading this novel I worked on for years.
I also wrote an essay for Literary Hub about bipolar disorder, deadpan humor, one of my favorite books, and the initial inspiration for Pepperleaf. You can read it here.
If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll consider picking up a copy. It’s available at all the online retailers and most bookstores, or you can order it directly from my publisher, Thirty West.
More soon!
