Hello there,
I’ve got a couple quick bits of news to share on this rainy spring Tuesday.
The first is that my microfiction, “Tusks,” which first appeared in the literary journal CEASE COWS, was chosen by judge Deb Olin Unferth to be included in the annual anthology BEST MICROFICTION, which will come out in print this summer, and be available through bookstores and online retailers.
The second is that a flash fiction piece of mine, “Switchback,” will be in the U.K. magazine LITRO next Friday (the 28th of April). I will post a link when it goes live.
I have more exciting news to share, but it’ll have to wait…
Best,
Ross
Hello!
I’m happy to say I’m a finalist for Thirty West Press’s micro fiction contest. There’s an online reading with all of the finalists on February 8th, where they will announce the winner. Fingers crossed! The time of the reading hasn’t been set, but I’ll post once it’s solidified.
Yours,
Ross
Just found out that my story, “Tusks,” was nominated for the Best Microfiction anthology by the literary journal CEASE, COWS. I love this odd little story. You can read it here.
Here’s a picture of the bear from the Honey Bear Bakery, right next door to the wonderful Third Place Books near my home.
Happy autumn,
Ross
Hello there!
It has been a little while since I’ve posted, so here’s the news.
First, about a month ago, I had a new fable-ish microfiction go up at the wonderfully odd literary journal CEASE COWS. The little story is called, “Tusks.” Click here if you want to read it.
Also, May 5th I had the opportunity to interview Ash Davidson on her highly-acclaimed novel, DAMNATION SPRING, at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park, WA. It was a whole lot of fun. I wish it was recorded!
Finally, I took a lot of photos of birds this summer, like the one above, of a Great Blue Heron, mid-flight. Follow me on Instagram where you can see my nature and writing-related photos. I’m on Twitter, too, where I post mostly about writing but also about the trivial things that make Twitter more habitable.

I have a lot of projects in the works, so I’m hoping for some exciting news this fall.
All the best,
Ross
