I’m very excited to share with you the Publishers Marketplace announcement of the sale of my novel. For folks not neck-deep in the prose writing world, this sort of announcement might look strange, what with its run-on sentence description and business-y acknowledgment of sale.
“Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA grad Ross McMeekin's THE HUMMINGBIRDS, about a groundskeeper haunted by the bird-deifying cult in which he was raised, whose life is upended when the actress living on the estate where he works draws him into an affair, and a rivalry is born between him and her husband, a powerful movie producer; a story of burning monks and silver screens, murder and heartbreak, set against the backdrop of a posh Hollywood estate, to Alexandra Hess at Skyhorse, for publication in February 2018, by Reiko Davis at DeFiore and Company (World).”
Just reading this feel strange and wonderful and, to be honest, a bit scary. It’s one of those small events that solidifies the reality of a big dream that is taking place. The novel I’ve been working on for four years is getting published.
